چکیده

Contiguous graphite fins can be grown with Microwave Plasma CVD from the surface of different types of thermally conductive (TC), graphite fibers. The fins grow from all fiber filaments in multiple same TC graphite fiber tow bundles. Fin morphology consists of contiguous branching graphene basal planes originating from the fiber’s surface and curling outwards regardless of the fiber’s isotropic fine crystals, onion, radial, or ‘‘Pan Am’’ internal morphology. A general range of conditions to grow fins of a desired length is

A simple and flexible route to large-area conductive transparent graphene thin-films

Solution-processed conductive, flexible and transparent graphene thin films continue drawing attention from science and technology due to their potential for many electrical applications. Here, an up-scalable method for the solution processing of graphite to graphene and further to self-assembled large-area conductive transparent thin-films is presented. The method proceeds via the graphite int...

Effect of Aspect Ratio on the Permittivity of Graphite Fiber in Microwave Heating

Microwave (MW) heating has received attention as a new heating source for various industrial processes. Some materials are expected to be a more effective absorber of MW, and graphite is observed as a possible candidate for high-temperature application. We investigated the dependence of the aspect ratio of graphite fibers on both their heating behavior and permittivity under a 2.45 GHz MW elect...

Nanostructured Conductive Composite Filter Electrodes for Water Sterilization by Application of Low Electrical Current

There is a crucial need for the development of inexpensive technologies for water sterilization enabling access to safe drinking water for more than one billion people in the developing countries. Water sterilization can be attained by chemical, electrochemical or electrical means. Electrical methods for water sterilization are considered environmental friendly because they use ‘‘electrons’’ as...

Mixed Polyvalent-monovalent Metal Coating for Carbon-graphite Fibers

An improved coating of gasification catalyst for carbon-graphite fibers is provided comprising a mixture of a polyvalent metal such as calcium and a monovalent metal such as lithium. The addition of lithium provides a lighter coating and a more flexible coating when applied to a coating of a carboxyl containing resin such as polyacrylic acid since it reduces the cross-link density. Furthermore,...

Electronic structure of graphite oxide and thermally reduced graphite oxide

We present the electronic structure evolution from graphite oxide to thermally reduced graphite oxide. Most functional groups were removed by thermal reduction as indicated by high resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and the electrical conductivity increased 6 orders compare with the precursor graphite oxide. X-ray absorption spectroscopy reveals that the thermally reduced graphite oxi...
